The Instant Improvement Tip Of The Week
Static stretching (the type of stretching where you hold it for a prolonged period of time) is good and does have its benefits, but don’t get caught doing it BEFORE games or practices. Studies have shown it can decrease power output for up to 30 minutes after, which is NOT what you want before games.
Instead do it after games or at separate times nowhere near games. Also, feel free to do it before lifting sessions ONLY if you need it to help you get into certain lifting positions. Otherwise, keep it after there, too.
