I saw an info-mercial on tv the other day that talked about training like six different core muscles, and claimed that crunches only work two. It talked about inner core muscles, and how the program would make you feel like you built a girdle around your mid-section. Are these claims legitimate, and would this type of program be useful for an athlete seeking explosive strength, or just for people who want to look good when their stomach is exposed?

I'm approaching 30 this year and in the armed forces and want to know what are the three best exercises to develop all round core strength to get towards the six pack and are there any exercises that I should avoid as an exercise to develop the core. Any information on foods to help fight the fat would be good.

I am 38 years old, I do taekwondo, athletics and social tennis. On top of my other activities, what 3 main exercises do you recommend for my core training. I have noticed that at my age my core area does not remain as tight as it use too.

Alex, This question was posted earlier about core workouts pertaining to kids. My son is 11 years old 130lbs and 5 ft. I am been reading several of your workouts and they are really complete. We have been playing with push ups, pull ups, and other body weight type things. I was wondering if you have a 3 or 4 day workout on a kids level. I have trained as a college athlete and have a major in kinesiology and have written workouts for him. Of course Alex, I am dad and I dont know anything so it means more when it comes from outside.
